Well, my new semester just started. I have all four of my classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, meaning I get Monday, Wednesday and Friday all to myself. I wonder how that's going to pan out. I already know that all of my finals are on the same day, which sucks balls, but I'm liking the tons of free time. Gives me plenty of opportunity to work, which is a good thing, since the financial situation around here acquired a few wrinkles recently.
The other day, I just found one of my purchases from Travis's rockin' and awesome birthday bash: the Freddie Mercury double solo CD. (It had fallen behind my TV stand and I didn't see it until I moved the stand while I was cleaning.) Let me just say, HOLY FUCKING WOW. It's great to hear Freddie's gorgeous vocals in a different environment from the one I'm used to. Then again, it's kind of sad knowing that I'm not hearing Brian, John or Roger. :/
The Barcelona album is absolutely beautiful (I'd actually never heard it, despite being an obsessive Queen fan). It's so weird to hear him sing opera! Here:
This song is called Golden Boy and it's absolutely breathtaking
I love how it sounds just like him, but at the same time, it's so polished, like he'd been some stuffy classical tenor all his life. *swoons*
Oh, and I now have the fervent desire to trade lives with Montserrat Caballe for the following six minutes and eight seconds.
Lucky woman!
AND AND AND. There was also a little *bonus* CD in the case containing some rare Queen songs. Among them was the band's cover of "I Can Hear Music", recorded before Queen's first CD, back when they were studio musicians eager for some work. They even had to record under the stage name Larry Lurex so that they wouldn't compete against their own debut album on the charts. All I can say is, I wish they played this version on the oldies station my boss listens to, instead of the lukewarm Beach Boys version. Ick.
Yep, that *is* Freddie singing. Just a really young Freddie.
Okay, I should steer the topic away from Queen. I wouldn't want you to think I'm a fanatic or something like that. XD
Preparations are underway for my Anime Boston costume. My friend Pam (who's an awesome hairdresser) has agreed to help me with the hair. The diet and exercise got a little spotty this past week, since I was getting into a new routine, but I'm getting back on track tomorrow.
I have to get cracking on my first long story for my Creative Writing class. I'm starting to sketch out some ideas, but procrastination seems to be taking the lead.
This is getting hugely long, so I guess I'll just end by saying that I love Emerson, I miss all my friends very, very much, and I'm slowly turning myself into a badge-toting terror in hotpants.

It's amazing that, hours after you've left, I still smell you on my jacket, indented into the leather.
